Be careful! Your musical tastes could get you arrested!

While I'm in the mode of posting items that do not relate to Max, Lilja, or Denmark, I decided to point to a very scary story about a person being arrested on the suspicion of being a terrorist because of his taste in music.

Via Reuters: British anti-terrorism detectives escorted a man from a plane after a taxi driver had earlier become suspicious when he started singing along to a track by punk band The Clash, police said on Wednesday…The taxi driver had become worried on the way to the airport because Mann had been singing along to The Clash's 1979 anthem "London Calling," which features the lyrics "Now war is declared -- and battle come down" while other lines warn of a "meltdown expected."

This is the problem with our War on Terror: its very easy for a person to become a terrorist; all you need is for someone who doesn't like you (or your musical tastes, or how you dress, or how you look, etc.) to make an accusation and you can wind up being arrested!

You can say “But that won't happen to me, I don't even like The Clash!” If you do, you're missing the point.

Be afraid, our rights are erroding to the point where the next one arrested could be you.

Ken
