Haiku

Max wrote three haikus today, here they are:

Mountain Men:

Trapping animals
Beaver is the best of them
Taking risks all day

The Moon:

Falling helplessly
Never stopping for a break
Looking at the Earth

Dolphins:

Echo location
Leaping out of the water
Eating fish all day

Wow, I'm impressed!

Today, In the Car

Today, after picking up my five year old at preschool, I hear her in the seat behind me taking off her shoes. She then says:

"Papa! Smell my stinky feet!"

"No thanks, I choose life."

"Papa Lapa! Life is SMELLY!"

And, you know what? She's right! :-)

Kowtowing to a Radio Star

This is sad: The leader of the RNC has to kowtow to Rush Limbaugh, a freaking radio star who lies each and every time he opens his mouth.

The Republican Party is in a sad, sad state. I hope they remain this way for decades to come because that's how long its going to take this country to recover from the last eight years of their control.

Michele Bachmann: Unclear on the Concept

Michele Bachmann is a representative from Minnesota that should have been voted out of office last November for wanting to resurrect the McCarthy witch hunts of the Cold War era... but either through dumb luck or the stupidity of a majority of the people who voted in her district she was re-elected. Sigh.

I bring her up because she decided to say the stupidest thing I have heard in a long time at the Conservative Political Action Conference this weekend. She said:

I just wondered that if our founders thought taxation without representation was bad, what would they think of representation WITH taxation?

The stupid! It burns!

How can someone this stupid live to reach maturity, let alone be elected to the House of Representatives?

Republicans are Shameless

Did you hear that Rush Limbaugh, leader of the Republican Party, gave the keynote address at CPAC today?

Did you know that he's completely shameless? Well, he is, because he had this to say about Obama:

"He wants people in fear, angst and crisis, fearing the worst each and every day because that clears the decks for President Obama and his pals to come in with the answers which are abject failures, historically shown and demonstrated. Doesn't matter. They'll have control of it when it's all over. And that's what they want," Limbaugh said.

To accuse Obama of doing what Cheney and Co. have been doing since 9/11 is just over-the-top unbelievable. The government of George Orwell's 1984 would be very proud of Limbaugh today.

The sad part is that no one at the conference noticed this shameless projection and CNN didn't notice either. The reporter at the linked to story above didn't mention what complete horse shit this assertion is or how it perfectly described what the Cheney administration and Fox news has been doing since just after 9/11.

I am truly scared for my country if people like Limbaugh can speak obvious lies and not get called on it.
