30th Anniversary for Voyager Spacecraft

To balance the story from yesterday, here's a pointer to a great story about the voyager spacecraft, both 30 years old, both billions of miles away from Earth, and both still functioning!

Its awesome to reflect on what humans can achieve when they focus on science, on expanding our capabilities, and on expanding our understanding of the universe we live in!

Imprecatory Prayer

Wow. This story is amazing. It involves one "preacher" asking the members of his congregation to pray for the death of another preacher after the second preacher asked that the first preacher be investigated for using his ministry to endorse a political candidate.

You read that right. The first preacher, the Rev. Wiley S. Drake, wants God to KILL the second preacher, Barry W. Lynn, for pointing out that Drake should not be using his church to endorse a political candidate. In particular, Drake suggested the following prayer to the members of his congregation:

"Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow."

This apparently doesn't violate the commandment "Thou Shall Not Kill" because they are asking God to do the killing. Nice. And they say the Taliban exists only in Afghanistan!

The whole sordid story can be read here.
