Never Forget to Pander

Yesterday, as most of us were attempting to process the horrific events that occurred at Virginia Tech, someone in the White House felt that this would be a perfect moment to pander to "Bush's base".

The White House issued a statement on the shootings that began:

"[Bush] was horrified and his immediate reaction was one of deep concern for the families of the victims, the victims themselves, the students, the professors and all the people of Virginia who have dealt with this shocking incident," White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said in a statement. "His thoughts and prayers are with them."

But then that was way too much normalcy for the people who currently live in the White House, because they went on to say:

"The president believes that there is a right for people to bear arms, but that all laws must be followed."

Wow! That's Republicans for you. Lets make sure that no liberal attempts to turn this into a gun control issue!

Way to go Bush, mission accomplished!

Ken
