Max's Poem: Centaur

Max wrote the following poem this year (7 years old, 2nd grade):

Centaur

Big, strong, half man, half horse.

Shooting arrows, jumping and reading minds!

Look out for the Centaur,

Mean, agile and quick...

He prances through the night with bow and arrow in hand.

The moon gives him his power!

Big Snow

Miles got me up this morning at 6:00 AM and while I was getting his morning bottle I noticed that it was snowing and that it had been snowing for most of the night. Its now 12 hours later and it has never once stopped snowing today, so the front and back yards of our house look like Winter wonderlands.

We stayed inside the whole day, had hot chocolate and cake at around 3 PM. Its been wonderful!

Stay warm,

Ken

War on Greed

At last, a war we can all get behind!

Brave New Films has launched a War on Greed.

First Target: Henry Kravis, a bottom feeder, who made 450 million dollars last year and payed (percentage wise) less taxes than the servants that work in his homes, not to mention less taxes (again, percentage wise) than policemen, firemen, veterans, and a whole bunch of other job categories do.

What does Henry Kravis provide society? What does he do? He borrows money from banks (in a transaction called a "sweetheart deal") and uses the money to buy U.S. companies. Well, now he has a company and he has a loan to pay off. So, what does he do? He fires a bunch of employees, sells the companies assets, and drastically cuts benefits for the remaining workers. He easily makes back the money he needs to pay off his sweetheart loan and keeps the rest for himself.

So, he destroys peoples lives and makes 51,000 dollars an HOUR doing it.

Nice guy. Oh, and guess what political party he belongs too?
